Default Thoughts on the HD5670

I recently bought an XFX Radeon HD 5670 (still waiting for delivery) to replace my failing BFG 9800GT.

Its an entry level card for mainstream, what are you doing on it is the more important question?

got a power color 512mb 5670 to game on 1360 by 768. Max's most games out including AA at a decent frame rate with that res with the exception of GTA4 and crysis warhead which still run quite high on the settings

that being said i haven't played anything new 2010 and up

As ST said, it's an entry level card. I hope you bought it for <$100 though.

I got a XFX 5670 for my dad (in his i5 760/P55 system).

That rig pumps 11 000 3dmarks 06 in Win7...not bad! Of course, it's not a gaming card, but this is pretty good for light gaming at someway low rez...

It's a good HTPC offering...

I mainly use my PC for net surfing, movie downloads. The only games I'll be playing on the PC will be World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm and the new Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.

Videocardbenchmark.net scores

GeForce 9800 GT G3D score : 914 Rank: 86

Radeon HD 5670 G3D score : 1212 Rank: 54

The people at videocardbenchmark.net list both the GeForce 9800 GT and Radeon HD 5670 under the high end videocard heading.

LOL. The "only two games" are 2 recent games. It might be really good depending of the resolution and graphics settings you'll set them.

BUT, latest games and low-end cards don't really mix...
This is a good little card, don't get me wrong...a 5770 wasn't that much more expensive tho....

Those are not High end Cards unfortunately Mate, to any standard. They are entry level mainstream.
High end would be ----> 6970/6950 GTX580/GTX570.
At least by modern standards.
You'll run your games no worries there, but I doubt you'll be able to push the settings as high as you'd like, though at that res your a bit safer.

Well guys, I have a HD5670 from MSI and I play Warhammer 40 000DOW 2 maxed on a 1050 display ( never tried on my 1080 23 inch )and it was working perfect. TF2 was also fluid and most of the time between 80-100FPS. IMO you should be able to play any game without lag depending on setting under 1080 of res. This card have a lot of OC potential also if you want to borrow a bit more power.

actually seen you could get a sapphire version of an hd 5670 with a decent looking cooler for $80 at newegg...then there is a $15 MIR. might do well in my computer for what I do.

As others have said it should be fine for what you use it for, but it is a mainstream card. When it comes to video cards money talks. Some cards perform better per $ than others, but overall if you spend $100 you get mainstream performance. If you want high end your looking at a starting price that usually starts around $300.
