My System Specs

Cool ATI 4890

I am purchasing one as a spare for my rigs, cost is $100.00 USD shipped., I will prolly replace a 8800GTX in my spare rig with it.
Question is, think its worth it? or buy a newer card. I think it's still a good performing card and for that $$$ I will not be able to match performance and value. I will OC it too.....

1st post here, nice to be here, I recognise some folks here from some other forums that I have been a longstanding member(s).

By the way I am not a canuck.......But I likes thems alot. I visit up north every few years, love it.

I suppose it depends what you're using it for and at what resolution.

I had a Vapor-X 4890 that I sold around a hundred bucks used. It would run Crysis, ME2, etc at max settings on 1920x1080 no problems. obviously you don't have DX11, but I can't even think of any good games that really use it much, so maybe that's not such a big issue.

If you're going the used route, I'd see if you can find someone who's selling an XFX locally and will help you with RMA in the case of a warranty issue (since they're lifetime warrantied).

I bought a MSI Cyclone GTX 460 768MB card for $130 shipped brand new... I would wait for similar pricing and then get something along those lines.

Wait for your $ to get stronger also! We should be buying from you right now. 4890 is a great solid card, but if you run Win7 you can get very good deals on 5850s or nV 460s also.

I found someone who has it locally, he also registered it so the full transferable warranty is good to go and it has a good aftermarket cooler on it albeit a $20.00 rise in price from the cheaper one. He moght meet the $100.00 price too.....
