My System Specs

Default PhysX

OK here is the situation folks,

I have installed in my rig a 8800 GT that I had around doing nothing. It's paired with a GTX 460.
I went into the Nvidea control panel to check what was there. Obviously, the idea is to use the 8800 as a PhysX card. How do I enable this, should I see the card in the control panel and chose it as PhysX. I have the choice between, autoselection or processor or GTX 460. At this point, I am not even sure that 8800 is recognized.

Make sure you have the monitor cable(s) pluggeed into the 460 not the 8800GT and that the 460 is in the primary GPU slot on your mobo too.

Playing around with different configurations, I suspected as much, now it's confirmed my second PCI-E is dead. About 2 months ago I lost my Xfire setup and made some tests without pursuing the issue without being certain but know I am very sure... Well too bad. The rig is still fully functional minus a PCI-E port.

No there is no ''toggle'' in the BIOS, if you only use one card then you have to use the blue PCI-E 16x with a device ( just a blank that takes the place of the second card) that you insert in the second one (grey) so you can function at 16x.

Wow thats really odd and a bummer that one slot would go bad and leave the motherboard working. Never seen that happen. Dont give up yet, unless you do know for a fact the port is dead of course.

either the port is dead or the card is dead. Seeing as he had crossfire before and it stopped working narrows it down to bad port. It is uncommon but it does happen.

I would RMA it if possible.

That's probably what I'll do. I don't remember the warranty on Asus MB but I think it's three years and this MB is about a year old max. Never done RMA with them before.
