Default 8800GTS 640MB (w/112SPs) SSC Edition VERSUS 8800GT 1GB ???????help!!

ello

I'am going to buy a new vcard. I'am playing on widscreen nec in 1600x1050.

I'm teard beetween those two cards 8800GTS 640MB (w/112SPs) SSC Edition (evga) or 8800 GT with 1024 Mb (palit probaly).

In my country (Poland) they can be found at almost same price.

I'm tempted by those 1024MB in 8800GT but concerd with 256bit bus - 8800GTS SSC has wider bus of 320bit but less memmory.

Can You give me your insights?? What would be a better choice??

That is a REALLY tough one. I would think that the 8800GT would be somewhat held back by its 256-bit bus but I would still pick it over the 8800GTS 112SP card. Even though you are not playing at a high resolution, it should still benefit you once you start turning on the eye-candy in games.

You might just want to take into account the fact that Palit does no have a long warranty while EVGA has (I think) a 10 year warranty in Europe.

yes, palit seems a little lower quality

assumig we don't have to put price under considartion, would you choose 8800GTS 640MB with wider bus????

the GT will always be faster than the GTS 640mb no matter what. Even the 512mb GT will beat the 640mb.

I 'think i found the solution: new 8800gts 512 based on g92 chip - in many test it goes "head to head" with 8800 ultra??? and it costs less then 10% more...only problem can be it's availibility. What do You think about new 8800GTS G92 ???

I would have to say the G92 8800GTS 512 is probably a better choice than the GT. It has a better cooler and performs slightly better. At 10% more cost it's worth it

Get the EvGA 8800GTS 640MB (w/112SPs) SSC Edition. Great card if your playing at high resolution with max settings.

I bought one up last week and have been playing Oblivion, UT3, Quake 4 at 1920 x 1200 with max settings on a 24" widescreen with no probs whatsoever.

People are suggestting the g92 8800 GTS which is a good card but also more expensive. I thought about exchanging mine for g92 8800 GTS but it really wasn't worth the extra 50 bucks for me.

**Edit** - Almost forgot ....Great site and great reviews SKYMTL. Long time reader here, keep up the good work on those reviews.
