DVI -> DISPLAY PORT -> MINI DISPLAY PORT -> GPU ?

Sorry title is a little confusing but I have a cheap dvi -> display port adapter that I used on my 5770 for Eyefinity.
NCIX.com - Buy Accell Display Port to DVI Single Link Active Eyefinity Adapter Retail - B087B-005B In Canada. to be exact.

Anyways worked great on my 5770 but now on my dual 6870s they use mini display port :( . So looks like I should be going on a fun excursion tomorrow. Anyways I was wondering if I picked up something like a display port to mini display port adapter if that would work.

So I would have

DVI -> DISPLAY PORT -> MINI DISPLAY PORT -> GPU

I know they sell eyefinity approved mini display port adapters but I'm assuming my alternative would be cheaper if it worked. Just want to make sure before I go blow more money

I don't see why it shouldnt work as display port to mini display port is the same pins just their locations changed to save space.

Cool! I just wanted to get someone else's opinion. It made sense in my head but normally my head doesn't comply with the rest of the world :P
