My System Specs

Default GTX570 or HD6970 ? Help me decide please.

EVGA GTX 570 - $360 at my local Canadacomputers

HD5970 - Cheapest I see is at Newegg. Prices ranging from $370 - $380

They have Saphire, HIS, Diamond, Powercolor...Which are good, which are bad ?

I know for example, with nvidia, I will ALWAYS go EVGA. Had issues with BFG.

What about ATI cards? Which manufacturers are the best ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

bang per buck on those 570. unless you game at 2560 and over.
i would wait for a better price on them, or maybe eye the 6950? it should drop a bit,at least theoretically, in a few days. maybe not.

although i think your 768 megger pair should still pull strong, except at 1920 over.

I have a local computer store (GVR area, not GTA) currently selling a Zotac GTX570 at $329. Try to see if NCIX can price match for you. Zotac Video Card GTX570

I heard a lot of good things about XFX. Maybe there are other brands as good as XFX but to the end it will really depend on people's preferences.

Ur right, my gtx460 768 pair is good. Definately better than a single 570.

But im planning on getting a 1080p HD LED TV along with a super high res 2560x1600 (i think) monitor.

So I will prolly grab a second 570 eventually. 6950 seems nice for $300, but seems weak imho.

for resolutions higher than 1080, HD69xx series performs better than GTX 570. Check as much benchmarks as you can about the cards that interest you and the games you intend to play on the resolutions you want. Some games were developed with AMD in mind and others Nvidia.

Makes sense. 2GB frame buffer would help tons vs gtx570's lame 1.2GB

Even GTX580 only has 1.5gb...

Imho nvidia needs to up the memory on their cards....Its always, lacking...

Reason I sold my pair GTX460s... 768mb was just pathetic... (good for low res though)

I was having the same dilemma and ended up getting this HIS Radeon HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, HDMI, Dual DisplayPort at Memory Express Computers ($305 taxes in delivered to Ontario) $269 Boxing Day Special.

I am really turned off by the dual monitor issue with Fermi.

There are ways other than resolution to cripple a card even further. Cranked up AA and tessellation will widen this gap even further, and the same applies between the 570 and 6950.

Truth is, the $300 HD6950 is the star of this graph. 3% behind the GTX 570 @1600 and 20% cheaper.
