580 and physx question

Does a 580 need help with physx Or is it strong enough?

Metro 2033 Maxed out looks DAMN good But would a Stand alone physx card help?

the 580 at physx is the best you can get right now, anything else will slow it down. so im thinking unless you add another one or maybe a 570 that ONLY does physx? nope, dont toch it :)

When I added my gtx 260 for physx, with my 480 and ran the Batman Arkham Asylum

Without 260
Min: 41
Max: 114
Average: 77

With 260
Min: 54
Max: 157
Average: 99

So I think adding a physx card will improve your performance :)

Yes adding a physx card will help increase performance but not much for games like Metro 2033 but 2033 uses so little physx in that game. Mafia 2, or Arkham Asylum use considerably more physx so adding a dedicated physx card for those games will give you a nice boost in performance.

Dangtx wasn't wrong - Metro 2033 has shown worse frame rates with a dedicated physx card when it comes to higher end 480/570/580 setups. I had a 480SC watercooled and overclocked.. I threw in a 260 and the average framerate was less - it wasn't an "exact" benchmark, but others have posted similar results with better methodology.

When I added a 280 (dedicated PhysX) along with SLi 480's a few months ago (just to try Metro) I didn't notice any improvement at all.......in fact Metro utilized the Card very little (it barely broke a sweat).....

Well Dangtx didn't post anything about metro 2033 and to me was referring to all physx games. He has stated false info in several other threads.

Metro 2033 uses about 3% of my 260 for physx so that is a poor example but you are right you wont see any performance improvement but you likely wont see a decrease unless you are loosing PCIe lanes.
