Question Time to upgrade?

Long time reader here but first time poster

I currently have two ATI 4850 cards in crossfire and I'm thinking about upgrading soon. I mostly play Starcraft 2 in 1920x1080 resolution. Any recommendations on what would work well with this game? I've heard that CF or SLI is terrible for this game so I'm thinking about getting one of those new 69xx cards coming out soon.

howdy and welcome. well, depending on pricing it might be good,as in 68 series good or not that good. you could always try one 6870 for now.
?
the rest of your system is ok. except what psu do you have

I have an OCZ 700watt PSU so I should be covered. I should have mentioned that my budget is pretty loose, anywhere between $300-$500ish.

hmmm....right now id go for two 6850's :AMD Radeon HD 6850 CrossFire Review - Page 1/25 | techPowerUp

and of course clock them to hell.

right now. if the 6950 fills that spot with less money spent? than good. i dont see it though pulling as much as two 6850's , perhaps the 6970

from early benchies maybe one 6950 to start with, again , depending on the pricing you get them for .

The XFX 6870 BE would be a pretty powerful upgrade from what you have.. that's what i'd be looking at if I were staying with AMD. If you went to the darkside (you get a free cookie!) a GTX 570 would out perform the 6870 enough to merit the cost difference.

Hmmm...I've been thinking about going with the GTX 570 or 580. The 570 would probably offer more power per dollar though. My board supports only crossfire so would I be able to get a single GTX up and running without any problems? (I'm still a bit of a noobie :p)

The problem going with two 6850's is that Starcraft doesn't actually benefit at all going with CF (correct me if I'm wrong) from the benchmarks I've seen.

yes, and with a bit of luck you can mod drivers to have a second one later on.

now, this is no crappy gtx 465 were talking about, but perhaps wait a little bit for more price drops? if we see any due to the 69 hundred series.

Exactly, I plan to wait 1-2 weeks after the new AMD cards are out. It would be nice to try out a nvidia card though. I've so far already owned 3-4 ATI cards (by chance).
