NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE 1GB Review Comment Thread

Last week, we saw one of the first NVIDIA launches pass us by with barely a whisper of warning. The oddly named "GTX 460 SE" showed up on board partners' websites and the market was left wondering how this new card performed. In this review we take the Gigabyte version out for a spin in order to answer the questions which have been swirling around the SE version since its silent launch.

Excellent review. I was surprised that the GPU wasn't awarded any awards at the end of the review though.

Being a 1280X1024 resolution user, this is a pretty good GPU for me imo. However, I said that countless times, because all the GPUs in the $150 to $200 range give me what I want compared to my 9600GT...

looked around for prices, and...

NCIX.com - Buy Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 SE Fermi 760MHZ 1GB 3.4GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI Mini-HDMI PCI-E DX11 Video Card - GV-N460SE-1GI In Canada. $189.98 CAD

Newegg.ca - EVGA 01G-P3-1366-TR GeForce GTX 460 SE (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Now: $189.99

unless there is a sudden drop to 150 dollars or so, i don't see it being a hit with the people who know their hardware. which, again,is a small number overall so it might actually work(hint 1gb ram vs non se non more crippled version which is a good 30 dollars more expensive)

Ok so 190$ for this one, and you can get a PNY GTX460 XLR8 for 200 then you OC the hell out of it and the SE can't compete for 10$ less. This card have to drop at around 165 and the 768 at 150 for it to be a good thing IMO. Nothing impressive in the result, I was excpecting it to perform somewhere between the 2 other 460. Good review Sky!

the min-fps results look pretty good to me, just needs a little bump down on price

$190 is the Canadian price for the ~$10 - $15 more expensive Gigabyte card. If these cards end up being $180+ at retail, their presence is completely pointless in relation to the other GTX 460 cards.
