Ya the upgrade stops here I wouldn't buy anything else for it even if it didn't work.

HD 6850 doesn't look 'better' than a 1GB GTX 460 card in the reviews. Maybe at some things but I thought they were comparable. If the 6850 card is $230, then I think the Nvidia card is comparable. No?!? Also, the Nvidia card could be used for folding and is arguably better suited in Linux (more reliable) but I'm just speculating.

I don't have a set budget yet but it'll be under $200, that's for sure!

You could probably find a GTX 460 768mb close to a 5770HD price range... albeit 10 dollars difference. And It'll perform much better

Go for the Gtx 460. Depending on what resolution you play at will determine if you should get the 1gb version. Both are cheaper than a 6850, but the 768mb doesn't preform as well as a 6850 by a 20-30% margin (Because of the lack of ram at higher resolutions). The 1gb performs a little under the 6850 and at a lower price. And if by chance you have a crossfire motherboard, get a 6850 and if you have an sli motherboard, go with the 460 1gb. If you fold then go with the gtx 460 1gb, nvidia has an advantage at folding compared to ati. But it all comes down to personal preference and what you would like to spend. Hope you enjoy your purchase :).
