You can get used 5870 for $240 now. I think that's a pretty good bang for the bux. Look on ebay, i got 2 MSI GTX480for 440 shipped. Although they are ridiculously hot and loud (i didnt believe other people's comment until used it myself) but they are powerful for sure.

Very nice. I'm thinking of selling my pair tho. The noise is unbearable almost. I dont think there is any room for overclocking with these cards. Going from a 5870 cf to a 480 sli is heating up my room quite a bit.Thank god it is winter! Definitely going ot sell these cards before spring comes.

@xin if you have a good case and its not very close to you its not that bad noise wise, cant do anything about the heat though. the guy was coming from sli 280's so he did not care

@ andy hey are you putting this in your 940 build? it will get toasty man

If not then grab a GTX460 768MB for sure I've seen them as low as $140-145+tax which is insane for the performance of the card. Stay away from the 5770s, they've had there time but they aren't in the spotlight amidst the current GPU bang-for-the-buck war.
+1

I just bought a MSI GTX 460 768MB and couldn't be more happier. The Cyclone cooler is BEAST! It is fairly quiet and the temps are amazing! 50*C while folding @ 65% fan profile. It got it for $170 - 20 MIR.

Oh no no no!! That would be toasty! Actually I'm building a new system during the Christmas holidays (when the season ends at my work) I just found it more economical to spend 50 on the board and have another working computer good enough to do simple tasks and be a home server. It also gives me something to play with as I twiddle my thumbs. My laptop is so horrible and I've used it for 3 years now I'm tired of it. I may buy a card on sale and use it in the system while I wait but again the pentium D will bottle neck it sooooo bad. Maybe I can even use this as a cruddy folding computer.

well, put it this way. if you can get a super sale, you will use it now, tomorrow and perhaps 6 months down the road AFTER you have built yourself a nicer machine. easy as pie

spending twice money, well unless you need a card for this guy here but as a server, doest need much
