Default 3x 9800 GT or 1x Radeon 6870

So, I am working on building a new PC and am stuck at which of these options would be better:
3 of these
or
1 of these

Theyre about the same price range, but I am really considering both options. One of my main reasons I am considering this is for a hackintosh, if I go with the 9800 GT's I could build it, but I cant with the radeon 6870.

So, should I forget OSX and get the more powerfull card, or get the three Nvidia cards and OSX?

Any help and opinions are appreciated

You may have a hard time getting 3 Nvidia cards working in OSx. Better to go with one higher end Nivida card for a hackintosh.

I agree with D, only I would recommend an Nvidia card as Varroa mentioned. if you install 2 good 460s, they'll outperform a single 480, and I love my 480.

Forget OSX. I have built a few Hackintoshes and it never is an entirely smooth experience unless every last piece of hardware is supported. The problem with mac is they don't support any high end desktop GPU so you are stuck with ancient tech.

There has been progress with 480 & 470 GTX i believe but besides that you are looking at maybe 2 x 9800GTs at the most. My 9800GT works great in my hackintosh. For ATI cards the best you are going to get working is maybe 4xxx series card.

OP how were you planning on configuring 3 9800GT's? They are only capable of two way sli so what was your plan for 3 of them?
