My System Specs

Default 6850 or a 6870

ok, i've read so much about these two cards, i'm getting totally lost. Should i wait and spend $180 on the giga 6850? Or, should i splurge $240 on the giga 6870?

i'm only interested in the giga cards. currently using the 4860. dunno if the performance difference b/w the 6850 & 6870 is worth the extra $60, so what would you get if these two were your options?

Thanks.

it's a 25% savings to go the 6850 for what looks like a 13% performance drop.

Unless you play at resolutions past 16850x1050, i think a 6850 would be fine, as for me, i ordered 2 today to replace my 2 4870s, and ill be playing at 1680x1050 (prolly too much power for me, but i'll keep them a few years)

i'm not much of an OC'er when it comes to videocards...i may play around to see what i can get, but i don't keep the OC settings...i always keep it at stock clocks...

yeah, i always game @ 1680x1050 or less...especially true if i can eyefinity my other 2 vga monitors (1280x1024)...so i guess i may opt for the giga 6850...

Ugh, dunno when ncix will have it in stock...

6850 all the way. Got a Pair of XFX's for a friend of mine, solid cards. If you have a high high res then 6870 is best.

Great cards, though the fan profile on the XFX is a little aggressive, so perhaps the Gigabyte one would work.

If you game at 1680x res, and plan on doing so for a quite a while, then the 6850 should be fine; otherwise the 6870.
