Default Eyefinity setup question

I tried to google this, but no luck. Hopefully someone here can help me out? Thanks.

I have the following:
2 monitors using vga-to-dvi adapter
1 monitor using a dvi-to-mini_displayport adapter
contemplating on getting a Radeon HD 6850 card

Now, could I use the above equipment to setup eyefinity?

What kind of monitors are you using? Is it 2 VGA monitors and 1 DVI monitor? What resolutions are they?

The 6850 has 2 DVI, 1 HDMI and 1 regular Display port.

If you want to use your mini display port then you will have to get the 6870.

The 6870 has 2 DVI, 1 HDMI and 2 Mini Display ports.

I think the 2 17" vga monitors are able to do 1280 x 1024. The 1 22" dvi monitor can do 1680x1050. Thanks.

So, it looks like the 6870 comes with 1xDVI-I and 1xDVI-D...

So, i can plug-in my DVI monitor to the DVI-D, and one of my other LCD monitors to the DVI-I via a "D-sub to DVI" adapter.

As for my 3rd LCD, I was wondering if I could use a "D-sub to DVI" adapter and plug it into an active "DVI to mini-displayport" adapter. The Accell one says it's compatible with all DVI-D single-link sources, so I'm thinking it might not work. Anyone know?

If not, then I may have to plug this last monior into an active "D-sub to mini-displayport" adapter, if I can even find one. Well, I found one for macs, but dunno if these will work on windows PCs??? Anyone know?

if the 6xxx series is anything like the 5xxx series when it comes to eyefinity with more than 2 monitors you will need at least one monitor with either display port support or an active adapter as most cards only come with 2 ramdacs meaning you can only connect and have running to displays connected through vga/dvi/hdmi as DP doesn't require a ramdac.

ummm, yeah, i was referring to using an active adapter... so, 1 monitor to my dvi-i, another to my dvi-d, and another to mini-displayport... BUT, for the lcd going to the mini-displayport, would it be possible to do the following?

monitor's d-sub connected to a "d-sub to dvi" adapter connected to a "dvi to mini-displayport" adapter connected to the mini-displayport on the 6870... i don't think so, because the "dvi to mini-displayport" adapter is compatible with dvi-d, and didn't mention anything about analog signals... But, i'm not 100% sure, and was wondering if anybody knew...

Or, if the mac "d-sub to mini-displayport" adapter would work on a windows pc... it's an active adapter... But, dunno if anybody knows if it can work on a windows pc...
