Personally, I think for your needs it is perfect. The only other option is the 8800GT 256MB.

Default Thoughts on the HD3850

I am wondering what you guys think of the 3850..
I'm trying to build a semi-gaming rig and I'm on a budget. I will be gaming at 1440x900 and from what I've read, the 3850 should be what I need.
I'm probably going to be playing some BF2142, TF2, and maybe some Crysis.
So you think that the 3850 is a good card for the price, or are there any alternatives?

I got the HD 3850 for my budget gaming rig project and it frigging rocks ... It performs just as well my 8800 GTS 640 MB at 1280x1024 (non-WS equivalent to 1440x900) in DX 9.0c and I only paid $170 for it ... It suffers a little in DX 10 when you crank the settings up (i.e. Crysis), so if you plan on playing DX 10, you may want to spend the extra $70-$130 to pick up an HD 3870 or 8800 GT ...
