How would a MSI GTX 460 HAWK O/Ced to the max compare then? I remember some people claiming 1GHz on the core.

i can use catalyst control and pump it to the max their easily, but i know i can get it higher than 850/1050

and i tried getting trixx, but it says i need to register a sapphire card to get it?

What i see is a few neglectible FPS more or less. I mean, does you OC card FEEL any different in a game ? Faster ? Can you do higher settings ?

Let me answer; no and no. Atleast in 99.5% of the cases. Study ? Nice to get for free, otherwise it ain't worth a penny....(besides a pissing contest)

a wonderful and helpful article and comparison.
Really the best one on the net in the last 3 months, the only one that has sense to read for a practical buying (everyone is searching around for result taken from oced version of 460 and 6850).

thx a lot

Note:
but why you didn't include an oced GTX470?
....and why the 8xMSAA testing is being made only at 2560x1600? at least should include lower res.

Excellent review SKY. However, I think the limit you imposed for OCing should be YMMV, and not based on core temperatures and fan speed. Some fans at 50% can be relatively quiet while others are just freaken annoying. Take my old X850XT for example. My 9600GT's fan @ 46% under F@H load is nothing compared to the X850XT's 50% fan.
I agree
