Default 8800GTX For $430???

SO. I have a lead on a 8800GTX for $430 I can grab today. That would mean Tri SLI. I would need to fork out an additional $100 for the dangerDen GTX block, because it is single slot, so I could continue to use my shiny Prelude. Who thinks I should do it!!

Don't do it; a guy on XS used the 780i chipset with triple SLI, and only got a 3FPS advantage over SLI.

The whole thing is like the "quad-SLI" 7950GX2 gimmick; it failed miserably. Don't get sucked in, and besides, your CPU will bottleneck it, even if it was running at 4.5Ghz.

Also, you can get an 8800GTX for cheaper, I saw one on [H] for $360.00 shipped.

Hmmmmmm. I'll give it some thought. He will bring it by my work so I can test it tomorrow. Gives me time to ponder. It would be pretty nice though.....and should I ever want 3 gaming computer's, I'll already have the cards hahaha

HotHardware.com has a decent review. This part is what has me wanting more...

"It was at 1920X1200 or 2560X1600 resolution with either 4X, 8X AA enabled that we reported a performance increase of around 40% with 3-Way SLI versus a standard two cards SLI setup. We would also offer that once we have access to the forth-coming patch for Crysis from Crytek and Electronic Arts, that we could very well see sizeable gains there also."

I play on 1920x1080, so I do apply.
