Default factory-OC reviews

Personally, on the topic of OC cards in reviews, I really don't mind as long as
the card is benchmarked using the clocks as they're set out of the box. The
controversies surrounding stock, factory-set overclock is artificial.

My point of view is based on the fact that all those chips come out of the same
wafers. If someone has issue with the GTX 460 FTW, then why not call foul on
benchmarking using a GTX 470 instead of a GTX 480? After all, a 470 is simply a
factory underclocked, factory crippled 480, isn't it? It's the same chip under
the hood. Same for an AMD HD 6850 vs. 6870. They're the same chips, just with a
different number of cores and a different clocks.

Would people feel different if the GTX 460 FTW were instead sold under a
different name, say as a GTX 463?

To me, as long as the reviewer doesn't tweak the card, benchmarking out-of-box
OC product is not an issue. They're comparing products as they're sold, as
anyone can buy them. The issue of availability is a red-herring, unless we're
talking about paper launch or obviously limited edition cards. But there are
factory-OC 460 aplenty.

i really wanna know when the 6970 and 6990s are coming out!!

i feel like upgrading my GFX card, and i might just stick with one card from now, like the 6970, but if it's good for the price, 6990 might be worth it, im just a little bored with some of the problems with crossfire (in a couple games, albeit ones i play frequently)

Just finished a build with a friend. XFire'd a pair of XFX 6850's. Very, very nice.
I think AlthougH I am running Nvidia as primary, these cards will take a spot for me as well.

That XFX 6850 makes me want it regardless of it's performance...
Just LOOK at it! Awesome.

well, amd could go with 2 big blowers, or even 3, but that would add 10 dollars per card, too mucho :)
