I can only speak for myself, but I don't worry much beyond the first year. Chances are, if it survives that long it's going to be fine over the long term for everything but the fan, and that can be replaced with a better third party cooler anywise.

same here. I upgrade too much and stuff becomes obsolete and worthless far too soon to worry about warranties beyond a year or 2.

Monitors are another story though, I like to see a 3 year.

Don't really care about the warranty, or buy extended warranty.
By the time it breaks down, it will be obsolete, and I will just upgrade it.

yep as long as it is GOOD warranty for at least 2 years then it is good. As I will upgrade to a new card anyways.

I tend to hold on to and use components for very long. So to someone like me, longer warranties are desirable.

So long as the warranty is greater than 1 year I do not care. If it breaks I will just throw it out and buy a new one from a different vendor. If it is less then one year I do not buy the product. If the vendor has so little faith in it then I do not want it.

It comes down to hassle. When I buy I want to walk into the store, put my money on the counter and get my product in return. If it takes any more hassle I just give up. All the hassle of getting the RMA and shipping and waiting and such is too much for me.

A lot of this is based on the fact that I have had good luck with hardware. Apart from a hard drive suddenly conking out I have had no major problems that I did not cause myself. I would probably start whistling a different tune about warranty if me expensive video card craps out for no reason.

I usually buy stuff used, because by then, the GPU would have been tested and proved to work. (Bathtub effect - electronics will most likely fail at the beginning of its life, but if it doesn't, it will continue to work for a long time.

a---------b----------c
\_________________/
------<=time=>-------

a= potential time of failure
b= if product doesn't fail by then, it will continue to work properly
c= end of unit's life, will usually die in 5+ years.

That's what I go by
