My System Specs

Question Should I buy?

Hi, noticed this deal on newegg.ca
Newegg.ca - EVGA 012-P3-1470-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
gtx 470 for $310, free shipping and $30 rebate
This seems like a pretty decent deal to me, but I just thought I'd check in and
see what you guys thought.
Looking for someone who very frequently probes newegg, canada computers, ncix for deals, and just wanna know if this is a good deal, or if better ones come up all the time.
I'd be replacing my 4890, its a good card for sure but I want something with a little more beef.
I figure after selling my 4890 this upg should only cost me 170ish.

It's not a bad deal.
These 470s are running a little warm to my taste, but they are good cards. The AR cards are lifetime warrantied which is what you want. I prefer the latest version of the 470 from EVGA (the "+" version).
The AMD HD 5870s are less power-hungry cards, are less noisy, but don't support PhysX...

If it was me, I would try to find a EVGA "Superclocked+" GTX470 with the highflow bracket / backplate...or a custom-cooled 470...

Newegg.ca - EVGA 012-P3-1475-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked+ FTW 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

So it's between a 470 or a HD5870....

This Zotac (with the ZALMAN aftermarket HSF) is really great....$359on the sale's page from NCIX and it comes with two free games!!!!!
NCIX.com - Buy Zotac GeForce GTX 470 AMP! Fermi 656MHZ 1280MB 3402MHZ GDDR5 PCI-E Dual DVI-I MINI-HDMI Video Card - ZT-40202-10P In Canada.

Thanks man!
The superclocked version though, I looked a 2 reviews and it doesn't really jump ahead of evga's normal card, so I didn't think it's worth the extra $50.
Also, I'm perfectly happy with bustin out a dremmel and cutting up my backplate if need be :p
The bonus games are cool, but I'd rather save the $50/$30rebate and shipping.
Wish I had another $250 kickin around so I could get another 1tb hdd and a ssd =D

I think the AMP! version is worth the extra $$$ IMHO...

You can try to ask EVGA to send you a high flow bracket, I think they were giving away some if you settle for the stock EVGA one...

I bought it, hopefully evga is a little faster with rebates then msi. They took 13months to send me my $35 rebate for my 4890 XD

Nice card, hope it works out for you; particularly in regards to the rebate.
