Default ASUS GeForce GT 430 1GB Review Comment Thread

For a long time now, NVIDIA has counted on their GT 220 to compete against the HD 5550 and HD 5570 in the sub-$99 market. It was thoroughly outclassed by ATI's products but now NVIDIA is introducing a Fermi-based card into the $80 price point: the GT 430. This new product looks to have all the features necessary to catch up to and even surpass the competition

How does it compare to a GT 240, I tried to make a comparison, but none of the resolution used were the same and none of the games used were the same, except dirt 2, but DX11 and DX9. I did a comparison for folding tho which puts th GT 430 ahead of the GT 240.

Other than that, it is a very nice review as usual Sky.

The GT 240 will remain in the lineup for the time being even though it offers comparable performance. However, there are times that the GT 430 will be pounded by the GT 240.

Nope. They have nothing in the $90 - $110 range.

That heatsink looks badass! Too bad about the fan noise on load. Nicely done as usual SKY.

The heatsink is pretty nice I agree but it's a prety old asus design that have a BIGGG flaw, the fan. For some reason, maybe to little and running to fast, they stop working pretty fast comparing to other brand small card fan. The issue is the same with the Asus 5450 and other card that usethe same heatsink + Fan.

Is there going to be something to slot in between the GTS 450 and GT 430? I'm still waiting to replace my 9600GT... At the moment for what's on the market, it's still a battle between the GTS 450 and ATI 5770 or ATI's next gen GPUs.

I don't know...

for the money offered, spend an extra $40 and get a well more equipped 450 if you need a new and recent card, else just find an older 200 series model for $30-50 without tax and be happy.

I don't see anything compelling about this card, especially considering you can get a 5670 for the same price: Newegg.ca - MSI R5670-PD512 Radeon HD 5670 512MB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card with Eyefinity
