Fermi's only have a few work units to chose from, 9xx pointers, and 611's, judging from the PPD, its not a 9xx pointer (the 'old' -advmethods). I cant remember the WU numbers, just the points value. Its assuredly a 611. I'm sure Zero will identify it for us shortly by WU number ;)

Id really like to know how well this thing does at that 848 core 1696 shader OC for PPD. Can you give us some numbers on that SKYMTL?

i believe he already did

all in all, double the rops wouldve made this a really nice low end card :)

oh geeze, I didnt see that other chart at all. Guess I skimmed the OC section a bit too briefly! Thanks Dan.

Not a bad performance increase. considering its only 2 'units' out of the fermi core...The 440 might be a REALLY good card depending how much they cut down the 106 core (or double up the 108?) Hrm....

well, when you look at this chart

there is place there for an 8 rop card.

what doesn't make sense though, is the performance, at least in folding, of the 450 vs its bigger brothers. on paper it should be quite less, but its not the case. high clocks dont explain the numbers it puts out.

so if the 8 rop card or 440 will do as well as keep wattage down(say 75), hey.

The question was directed more towards the PPD listed for the 240 than for the 430. I'm not even sure if 2XX cards get the same WUs as 4XX cards under GPU3. I keep seeing references to non-fermi only WUs for GPU3.

I'd have to say $40 is $40 either way, doesn't matter if it's coming from $80 or $280. It just seems this card has no real purpose. it's overkill for an HTPC, yet not really powerful enough for gaming or folding. (where as a 450 -> 460 is like $100 more and either or would play games and fold decently, performance per dollar) - you might as well go cheaper (sole HTPC duties) or as I mentioned, slightly more expensive. Performance easily doubles with an extra 50% investment.

actually it does matter. if you have 3-4 bills to spare o na certain product, 10-12% more is not as bad. but if your budget is 80 bucks, then 50% of it more is bad. :)

I was only getting 611s. I'll let the card fold for a while tonight and see if any others come up. That also may be why the PPD of the other Fermi cards is a bit low. I have folded about 20 WUs for Anonymous over the last few months for these tests and haven't had any higher-end WUs come through.

OC PPD is here: ASUS GeForce GT 430 1GB Review

For the sake of benchmark #s SKYMTL it might be a good idea to save one of the 611 WUs and use that to test every card. GPU folding under GPU3 isn't a problem at the moment as you'll mostly pull 10632 (611) WUs, but that will probably not always be the case. If you look at the GPU2 lineup of WUs, there's a wide range of performance between many of the WUs, and they tend to go in cycles so you might test one card when it was only getting XXXX WUs, while the next card might be getting a completely different set with as much as a 25% difference in PPD.

Yup. I have a 611 WU saved for the future just in case I stop pulling them.

I am just not sure how to USE a saved WU though... ;)

Ironically, I just pulled a 925 when I booted folding under the HWC team. Will report back.
