Default XFX warranty question

Hi there,

I have a 5970 registered with XFX,
and I am wondering if I install an aftermarket cooler,
if my warranty will be voided..

Thanks in advance.

You'll be fine.

XFX's warranty is what is called "modder-friendly"...aftermarket HSFs are allowed...as long as you keep the original HSF and you put it back on the card if you send it back (RMA situation).

Yup, XFX, like EVGA and BFG was back in time do not care if you change the cooler as long as you don't damage the card, which you have ot be pretty dumb to do IMO. Have fun putting the cooling on the card and maybe give us some result?

If you're looking for an accelero cooler I saw one in the for sale section, fair bit cheaper than retail!

@JMCD, yeah that was the one I was planning to get, but I was looking at some results and it seems the infamous problem of the cooler bending the PCB at the VRM side of the card, is quite a serious problems, and cools the VRMs worse than the actual stock cooler.

My accelero is still in the box...(HD5870 here)...I don't even feel like trying to put it on....I don't want to have overheating VRMs issues...and yes, bent PCB looks bad...I'd rather keep the backplate!!!!
