Default crossfire Vs SLI

can a crossfire certified mobo run two SLI cards (SLI)?
is the title a mere marketing scheme or is there a programed/hardware support built into the respective board?

thanks in advance

Default crossfire vs sli

right now Crossfire is far more efficient than SLi. avg about 70% over one card vs 60% on SLi.

PS. ATi chipsets will do Crossfire too. not just intels.

Can you put nvidia card on a crossfire mobo and ATI card on a sli mobo? I'm kind of lost with those 2 words .

You can run a single ATI card on a board that supports SLI and you can also run a single NVIDIA card on a motherboard that supports Crossfire.

I've seen a working SLI setup on a crossfire-ready P5B Deluxe (Intel P965 chipset) on XtremeSystems, but you need hacked drivers and lots of knowledge...

Sorry, useless post but I am always amazed at some people's resourcefulness and ingenuity

In theory it should be plausable as the board does have and the technology uses 2 16x PCIE lanes, but again like Synth said you need to use hacked drivers and may even have to physically mod the motherboard as it is the northbridge that controls SLI or Crossfire.
