Default Best value for 120$.

I recently burnt my VGA(88000gt alpha dog) due to poor maintaince and I am on the look for a new one.My system specs are:intel Q9300,OCZ blade 4gb DDR2,seagate baraccuda 500gb,windows 7 profesional if that matters at all.I am mianly looking for the best performance at that pricerange and a as much long term durability I can get without seriously trading off performance(I don't expect my card to go past 2-3 years but I want it to be working properly at that time).
Thanks in advance.

This is probably your best bet, unless you can find a used GTX 260, 5770 for 120$ or used 4870 4890 for 100$ Look at the BST section here. If you want new then, spend 30$ more to get a 5770 or get a 5670. Not really any other good option IMO. You also can spend like 15 box more ( after MIR ) and get a GTS 450. Maybe look at the sale that will come in 2 day from NCIX.

NCIX.com - Buy MSI GeForce GTS 450 Fermi Cyclone OC 850MHZ 4GHZ 1024MB GDDR5 2XDVI Mini-HDMI DX11 PCI-E Video Card - N450GTS Cyclone 1GD5/OC In Canada.
Newegg.ca - MSI R5670 CYCLONE 1G Radeon HD 5670 1GB PCI Express 2.1 x16 Video Card

A 5770 is definitely great value. I don't own one currently but I'd had several 5770 Vapor-X models and they always took what I threw at them but decided to step up to the GTX 460. Either that or the new GTS 450s look very good, but the 5770 would be my first pick in this case.

5770 for sure on this one if you can afford it after taxes and such. Its such a nice little budget card.
Either that or find the ASUS or EVGA GTS450, but that would be my second pick based only on Performance per $.

My good old 8800GTS 512 finally died on me the other day as well. I did some looking around and the best deal I found was an HIS 5770 for $120 at Memory Express. I've only had it for a day, but I've really been impressed with it so far.

That's with rebate, though. I think there's a few HD 5770 for $140 and then they're reduced via rebate to about $120-ish. Is that a good deal? I dunno.... how long does the rebates take and how much of a pain in the bum/bum are they?

I don't like rebates mostly because they're a big pain to get a cheque for only $20 or $30. I'd rather have the discount immediately rather than wait for it and if you value your time at all.... I dunno... cutting out a serial number in a box, making a receipt photo copy or whatever you have to do.... ?????

Where's a real incentive?

Best value for $XXX is when a company does something way different and includes the discount or deal in the product at time of sale.

Rebates usually take like 6-8 weeks. I've never had a problem receiving any mail in rebate.

Yeah, I also prefer instant rebates. Then again, the rebate only takes like 5 mins to fill out and to get all the documentation together so it's really not that big of a deal. The fact that most of it is done online makes it a lot easier than it used to be. If you know there's a mail in rebate for your purchase, just get them to print off a second sales receipt. It saves some time.

OP,

The "alpha dog" is XFX right? No way to claim ownership on that card for RMA purposes? you could get something like a 5670 or a 5770 for it for free right? Just blow compressed air to dislodge all dust bunnies and give it a try!

Side note. I replaced a 8800GTS 640 by a XFX 5770 and I'm happy about the performance difference and better temps.
