now new title... how about gtx 280? (i am not too sure if i can use it on gtx 285)

used gtx 280 costs me 180cdn to up... >_>;

the price of 260 is very cheap... about 150 to up for used one... or 220 for new... so i am going to look for used gtx 260 sli to entertain myself and outperform $300 gtx 470 and $450 480 at same time...

well the main reason that i have two d-tek full gpu block (ram and gpu) that i bought last year... sorry i cant remember the model... i have to go look for it under the bed... or maybe closet...

so should i go with gtx 260 sli (or even triple or quad if i am too bored)... because of ga-x58a-ud9 can support quad video cards)...

*copy and paste*
the not-ready-yet computer specification would be

hx1000
i7 950
ga x58a ud9
g.skill ripjaws 3x2gb 1600
vertex 2 60gb
seagate 7000.12 1tb

or i should stop the dream and go to find better one such as ati or whatever....

if you were to find them for super cheap? sure. else don't bother with the power consumption and heat resulting in thine quest :)

i say better stick with newer stuff. ati,nv.

nah i dont worry about heat or power... i dont pay utility... landlord does...

already owned it... i will picture it when i have all parts...

GTX 260s do not support 4-way SLI. It's not worth it for anything more than two-way SLI, and even then, you'll get a better experience with a single higher-end card like a 470, 5870, or better.

You can get used 260s for $120 on this forum.

zerox, you are right... there is no support for 4 way sli but there is 3 way sli... so its not too bad...

what do you mean better experience with new gpu?

and do i have to sell/throw away dtek gpu with uni sink? :?

chj, of course, there should be cheaper than local area... ;p

I think he means you're better off with a powerful single GPU card, as opposed to two or three 260s. From personal experience I believe this is true. Single and dual setups are the way to go, the third/fourth GPU doesn't add a significant amount of performance in most games. I'd stick with one GTX 460 and consider getting a second. Or a 470 and a second one later on. AFAIK the newer cards scale better in SLI too.

interesting...

but i am not too impressive with gtx 270 except price value of 300cdn to up... i would consider ati 5870 (370cdn to up) if its newer card... or gtx 480 for 450cdn to up

SLI setups have scaling issues in certain situations and with certain games. GTX 260s also will not allow you to use DX11 features in games that have them, which can make a big visual difference in some games. Three 260s will also consume quite a bit of power. I would much rather have a 5870 or 480 than two or three 260s in SLI.
