Default ATI 6000 Series 1 month behind schedule, same old 40nm

AMD to delay the launch of Radeon HD 6000 series, while Nvidia drops GPU price

I'm guessing retailers are begging AMD to hold off until they clear their stock of 5850s and 470s.

Lame. I have had that upgrade itch for the better part of six months and have been waiting to see what the 6000 series chips were going to bring after the early benchmarks before jumping on the 480 GTX bandwagon. Perhaps I shouldn't bother waiting anymore?

I've had the upgrade itch for a year!

Anyways I like this. I don't mind waiting some more. What I like are the price drops.

Yeah! It's pain! I keep talking myself out of it each time though. With any luck I'll get lucky and snatch something used for $300 or scoop something on Ebay.

Isn't the 5000 series powerful enough for most games to date, and beyond? This is basically just a refresh, so personally I would skip this generation if you already have the 5000 series.

Heh.... playing the PC hardware waiting game has always been a no-win situation unless it's something like waiting for already-announced price cuts to make it into the retail stream.

Gen 2 DX11 games (other than Metro 2033) are only going to start seeing the light of day in H1 2011 so any delays at this point aren't really a big deal IMO.

Other than the hesitation it introduces into possible consumers who may or may not decide to go with the green team for a new(er) product with known results rather than waiting for the release date to be moved back indefinitely.

How significant can the performance increases possibly be?

Anything new regarding next Gen. Nvidia cards? Are they calling it 580 GTX?
