Motherboard has nvidia chipset,is it better to have a Nvidia vid card?

Hi,lots of deals on new ati cards,is it better to stick with a nvidia vid card, considering my motherboard has a nvidia chipset or does it matter?Currently have a 9800gt.Thanks.

Only if you plan to do SLI.

Nope no sli on this mobo. This opens up my video card shopping, lol. Was contemplating a gts 450(always the budget shopper),now I can look at Ati,hmmmm.Whats a good, reasonably priced Ati upgrade from my 9800GT??Thanks.

Well.... looks like the 450GTS is in between the 5830 and 5770 for both performance and pricing. OTOH, as a folder, I'd vote for the 450.... ;)
