Default Reference 5850.. possible to run with no fan/backplate?

Is it possible to run my computer without any sort of cooling on my 5850?
This is for 2D windows desktop only, no gaming.
I use it for 2 hours a day

Thanks

No it is not possible. You'll cook the card instantly.

If all you are using is the supplied fan it should be just fine, but it needs some form of cooling.

He might as well sell the 5850 and get ~$250 back. And spend $<50 on a 4350 passive edition and call it a day.
