how much performance will I get from upgrading to a 460 Hi, new to this forum I just have two questions to ask of you. I just ordered a MSI GeForce GTX 460 Fermi Cyclone OC 725MHZ 1024MB GDDR5 Dual DVI Mini-HDMI DX11 PCI-E Video Card how much of a upgrade would i get from a ATI Asus 4830 512mb card. Second question There might be a glitch with my current ati card as its saying it has 2gs of memory and it also wont display its model make on sites such as canyourunit.com. Thanks:clap: |
it should be pretty nice. whats the rest of the system like? powersupply? :) techPowerUp :: Palit GeForce GTX 460 Sonic Platinum 1 GB Review :: Page 1 / 35 to give you an idea. plus these cards,so far, oc very well so basically with a little bump in power consumption it gets to the levels of much more expensive cards |
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W ATX 20/24PIN SLI Ready Modular Cables 135mm Fan 80PLUS Power Supply - DirectCanada I just got it when i ordered the card. AMD 955 black ed oc to 3.4 ghz 4 gigs of ddr2 ram @ 1000mhz 500G hard drive |
The 460 is 50% better than your 4830. |
yeah, that would be a significant boost. the rest of your system is par for the course. you're going to enjoy the boost with gaming. |
A great resource is over at Home - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News They have a 'bench' where you can compare most GPU's from within the last 2-3 generations. |
It is going to be a substantial improvement. |
It should be pretty significant. Enjoy gaming with your new shiny card! :) |
