Gigabyte Radeon HD 5770 Super Overclock Review Comment Thread

Gigabyte's Super Overclock series has always been known as being cutting edge in terms of features and clock speeds and it has now made the jump into a lower-end price segment. The HD 5770 already combines excellent performance with a killer price but how will this translate into a supposedly flagship brand?

Wow disappointing product right there. An extra FPS or 2, and slightly lower temps for a higher price. Why wouldn't they just make a single slot cooler like XFX did? I guess it's only $10 more (although you can find 5770's for cheaper than $170...) for a better HSF which is nice but still....

why in god's name would they "superclock" an already chocked product. the 128 bit memory bus is already horrid enough, the ref 5770s perform overall worse then a 4870.

Wow, stupid product.

Kinda suprised at the name based on the performance. I wonder how this performs compared to the Sapphire 5770 Vapor-X.

they might as well have put a flame sticker on the side of it and have marketing tell us 'it goes faster'.

Racing stripes would help it.

Funny how it locks in overclocking so horribly.

Agree with some of your final comments in the review. Seems like a decent card, but it should not carry the SOC label.

i think sky mentioned at one point that later 5 series gpus would oc less than the first ones, but dont remember what the explanation is since it doesn't make sense seeing as the process matures and all.
