Well, the original receipt from NCIX (which I still possess) , shows the serial number of the card. So even if the little mark is gone, I'll be able to verify that the card is actually the same.
On top of that, I received the card, right from the factory, BIOS flashed to SC speeds of 576mhz CORE instead of the vanilla speed of 500mhz CORE (don't remember the memory clocks).
Actually, I received both my 8800GTS 640 and my GTX260 factory-flashed to SC speeds. I guess my luck with EVGA is gone now lolz!!!
OH, I think about something now. Remember the issues with the MOBILE 8400 and 8600 series chips? You know the issue was related to the use of lead-free, low-temp solder or something.
If the G80 can be revived by baking, could we say that the same solder was used on the G80 cards? If true, the only thing that saved the G80s all that time was the better cooling capabilities of the desktop cards...but maybe they were prone to fail anyway???
