Origin of the name Fermi?

I was watching History Channel about the story of Manhattan Project when they scanned over some documents and a name leapt out, Fermi!

Intrigued, I googled it and here is what I found:

Enrico Fermi (29 September 1901 – 28 November 1954) was an Italian physicist particularly known for his work on the development of the first nuclear reactor, Chicago Pile-1, and for his contributions to the development of quantum theory, nuclear and particle physics, and statistical mechanics. Nvidia's been using the names of early-20th century inventors to classify its cards for a while now. Note the last generation was Tesla, as in Nikola Tesla (primarily known for his work in electromagnetism, including the wireless transmission of energy).
