Default gtx460 or 5830?

so while i've been waiting for evga to respond to my rma request to replace a 8800ultra. i 'm getting tired of waiting and unable to use my new monitor, i decided to get one of the two gtx 460 768MB and the hd 5830 1gb.Which one is better and what brand should i buy,i would prefer one with a decent warranty.I'm buying from newegg.com or ncixus.com

Oh and my budget is about $230

The 460 would be a better choice. The best brand to get would be EVGA for the warranty, though just about any other brand will be fine as far as the card goes. I suggest you also see if you can find a 1GB model within your budget, since that would be worth going for.

Agreed with the choice of gtx 460, look at benchmarks and most of the games perform better with it: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1GB & GTX 460 768MB Review

As for the brand, well as Zero said EVGA is the way to go. This card would be nice since it has a lifetime warranty: Newegg.com - EVGA 768-P3-1362-AR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Superclocked 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Actually, I'd go with this: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

XFX is the usual recommendation when it comes to ATI because of their double lifetime warranty.

I agree with Zero82z's choice. I personnally went for the Gigabyte one (768Mb) as it has the best cooler. It runs cool (max 60C at full load) and is whisper quiet in all circumstances. I have OCed it to 865/2200 without a problem. 3 years warranty should be enough too, and you don't need to register it in order to have warranty.
