EVGA GTS 250 having problems
I am using EVGA GTS 250 with 1 GB DDR3 on the following system.
CPU: Intel core 2 duo 2.6GHz
Memory: DDR2 800MHz 2GB
Mother Board: Intel GA-73PVM with PCI-E V1.0 slot (NVIDIA MCP73 Chipset)
Power supply: 415Watt true power PSU with 25A on 12V rail
OS: Win7 32 bit with current latest Nvidia driver
I am experiencing problems with games hanging up after 15-30 mins of play time.
Games which hang:
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Crysis Warhead
Terminator Salvation (very troublesome)
I run the above games on resolution of 1280x1024. Even if I reduce the resolution I get the same problem.
The common errors:
Video driver not responding(on W7 32 bit)
System memory dump: (on Vista 64bit only)
Game not responding
If I use antialiasing of 2x I get somewhat continuous performance.
1. Please help with this hanging up problem.
2. If I plug this to a PCI-E v2.0 board, will this perform better
3. I think that I have enough power because my VGA card does not run on peak power (fan speed 60% and temperature 80Deg) at the time the game hangs. Still could this be a power deficiency problem?

Have similar problems, but in WinXP and with BFG 250 OC

After monitoring temperatures extensively, replacing the case, cpu cooler, hard drive, psu, and many runs of memtest, I'm ready to blame it on Nvidia.

My symptoms are the game freezing with sound loop and a blank (no input) monitor. Whether my temps reach 80C or 50C it doesn't matter.

BFG even replaced my card with a new one but the same problems are there. Months of googling found many people with the same problems but no solution.

A theory is that Nvidia's firmware will trip the overvoltage protection during some loads.

ATI is supposed to not have this problem at all. So I'm going to try one of their cards

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but maybe someone can help us both by recommending a similarly priced ATI card that packs the same or more punch?

best of luck,
