No worries mate. I know how I'd feel in the same situation.

It does blow air through the exhaust but much like the XFX 5850 cards it also exhausts elsewhere into the case. But with the thermals of the card, and in a case with good airflow it would probably be okay still regardless.

centre fan design is SUPER quiet. I couldn't get it to go over 40% in my testing and even bumping it up to 60% which is usually the max those cards will go, it only barely drowned out the stock intel CPU fan.

Some temperature testing between various cards by AnandTech. I only skimmed it, but I like the low temperatures. A LOT!

usually a bigger fan pushing same amount but lower rpms should net you better acoustics. usually.
id probably go for the external exhaust ones to aid case temps, even if it adds a db or two to the concerto

Looks like the 465's have seen a price drop with the release of the 460. You can find the 465's for around the 250 mark now, just on the high end of the 1gig 460's.

Performance wise, this is the right dollar amount. Id like to see some overclock performace head to head before making that call 100% however. When you take thermal and acoustics into play, the 460 1 gig still may be the better buy.

Edit: Comparing the EVGA 465 review here on HWC, it got 40.81 max, 30 avg in BF:BC2 19x12. The 460 1gig when overclocked pulled 40.87 max, and 28 avg @19x12. OC Power numbers were not given. I'm pritty sure I can figure out which one drew more. (anandtech has a writeup on the 460s overclocked wattage)

well, from what other reviews say, don't touch the juice and the wattage wont go demented up. i think they said something around 20-30 watts more?
