Default 5770 Clock Speeds Question

As any ATI card owner knows, both the Core Clock, and the Memory Clock speeds are reduced to 400mhz/900mhz

For some off reason, on my card the only time the memory is downclocked to 900mhz is when I do something that involves flash in firefox, otherwise its always set to 1200mhz.

My core clock adjusts itself according to whether or not I am using an intense 3d program.

How do I fix this and make the memory clock go to 900mhz whenever im NOT in game... its useless to have it at 1200 and to downclock to 900 for a youtube video.

Hmmm I have the exact same card. I am going to look into this also and see if mine does it. Who is the manufacture of your card?

XFX is the manufacturer.

What you can do to test it is just simply open CCC go into Graphics>ATI overdrive
and look at the "Current Values" section on the bottom, and see what your Core and Memory Clock speeds are.

Try watching a Youtube video, and check what the speeds are, then play a 3d game and check again!

Thanks for your help in advance...

It's probably downclocking to 2D speeds in order to save electricity and reduce the temperatures.

I dont think you understand...

I know that it downclocks and I WANT it to!

But It only downlclocks if I run anything flash based... like for example a youtube video, when REALLY I want it to downclock itself either way when Im not running A 3D APPLICATION!

NOT JUST WHEN IM WATCHING A YOUTUBE VIDEO!

I won't be able to test this myself until I get home as I am at work. I also have an XFX 5770 so it will be a good test. I'll let you know!

Cool! thanks man! Im not really worried about it as I have 4 tiny copper heatsinks installed onto the vrm chips anyways, and it could just be a driver problem lol.

Awesome man! Thanks for the help...

For all of my games my Core clocks go up to 850mhz, except for Counter Strike Source, where it goes to only 600 like BFBC2.

Seems like everything is normal for me now.
