My System Specs

Default New video card advice
Hi, I am getting a new video card. I game at 1600x900 and would like to be able to play almost all games at max settings. My budget is about $230 but Cheaper is always better. I am looking at these two cards
Newegg.ca - GIGABYTE GV-R583UD-1GD Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
Newegg.ca - MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
I would like to overclock the card and my buy is based off of performance after overclocking. The 5830 is quite a bit better than the 5770 but the 5770 will overclock better because it is able to be voltage controlled. Also I might not need the performance of the 5830. Which one should I get?

hmmmmmmmm

sell your 4650's first.

i wouldnt get the 5830, unles it was like 169.99 super special etc

even at your resolution, newer games are quite taxing. maybe sli 2 gt's for cheap? or look up two 4870's/260's?

I need to keep one 4650 to run my other two monitors and I couldn't sell the other until after I get the new card. I don't need to have any anti-aliasing on and 30fps is a fine frame-rate for me. You sure a 5830 wouldn't be enough for that?

Uh..yeah right...better re-think that or plan on scaling down from "Max" settings....Medium Settings perhaps....

......Its Official, Van Canucks are in a "Re-Building Stage"..forget about Peripherals, they need a new Platform, as in Mobo, CPU n RAM

havent taken note of toms graphs in a while.

again, even at that resolution, and not with eye candy tru the roof, new games are taxing.very taxing. id say 5850 a minimum.

Crysis 2, Starcraft 2, Bad Company 2, Metro 2033, etc.

Since you're not using nvidia, I'd recommend a 5770, and overclock the nuts off of it. You will not be able to max a whole lot though.
