I am interested in bad company 2 but according to many review sites the 5830 should be able to max it out at my resolution (1600x900). I'm confused?

Starcraft 2 doesn't really belong on that list.

Show us the links. I play on medium settings with 4XAA on my 5870 @ 1920X1200 to get good, consistent framerates. A 5830 @ 1600X900 totally maxed ain't happening, unless you want to play at 15FPS.

the hard part about a tight budget for a gaming puter comes down to video card. you can get by with 150-maybe 200 for mobo and cpu, but videocard? nope. back in the day 100 bucks got you something decent.hell,ok. 150. but nowadays? thats low end lol.
also, if you do go the 5850 route, remember that you wont need a small nukular reactor to run it. a good 500 watter will be more than enough for a sensible system(i.e. not a heavy oc'ed i7 or such)

Remember that I will probably turn off anti-aliasing and my resolution is 1600x900
XFX Radeon HD 5830 Review (page 6) - X-bit labs
MSI R5830 Twin Frozr II review
According to these sources I will be able to play at max settings never going below 30fps, but you guys are telling me that i won't be able to, i'm very confused...

I had the same kinds of doubts when I bought my 5770.. See the graph posted earlier, it shows the 5770 maxing dirt 2 with ~30-35 fps. At the very same settings, I get about 50-60 FPS (reported by FRAPS). But seriously, the 5830 is not the best price/performance card at the moment. your best bet would be a 5770, and get a second down the road. (if your MB supports Crossfire.)

Not all reviews can be taken as golden in the world of graphics cards.
That being said if you disable AA you may be able to get away with it. Then just Xfire down the road when you can afford a sister card.

The reason many of us buy a $300 - $450 GPU is so that we CAN Max everything......buy a $200 GPU and you'll get that level of performance......as Soul mentioned, not all Reviews are "golden".......

So should I get the 5830? If I do what kind of fps will I get in games like BFBC2 and Dirt 2. Is there a better option for the same price e.g. xfire 4770's. Im 12 so I really dont have the cash for a 5850.
