My System Specs

Default Got a 5870 Vapor-X, should I bother to keep GTX for Physx?

I replaced my BFG GTX 285 2GB with a Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X. I wanted something faster but mostly it was the better cooling and silence which motivated the switch.

Should I just sell my GTX 285 or swap it with a family member for a 8800GT and use that for Physx? I am willing to put up with the extra noise and heat of two GPU's provided it will actually be of some benefit. Aside from Batman and the Ghost Recon games I don't know of any big Physx games on the horizon. Opinions?

BFG is getting out of the videocard business...if that card ends up dying down the road, you "might" have an issue getting it replaced...I would get rid of it!

If you really want PhysX, some people here could propose some less expensive and less power hungry cards that would be good enough for physX... I wouldn't bother tho...

If you really want PhysX support then I would say go with a cheaper GPU and sell off the GTX 285. I don't see much point in keeping it unless you're a folder.

Ya, Physx isn't a big thing for me anymore, otherwise I wouldn't have gone with an ATI card. Only way I'd keep it is if someone could suggest a few titles that demand Physx. I'll sell it

you purchased an ATI Card cause you wanted less power hungry and heat.....so why would you want to keep it in your system for a few games??? I really don't get mix n matching nv / ATI for PhysX enabled games.....if those games are so important stick to nv......other wise get rid of it.....can't imagine the "Driver Headaches" this would involve...not worth it imo.....

If you don't fold there is no point in keeping it. The power consumption versus the rare game that supports PhysX is not worth it.
