Dead GTX480
One of my cards died. Anyone else have problems yet?

belgolas June 25, 2010 04:55 AM

That totally sucks. Not a single problem so far.

I've been spanking my GTX 480 cards like lazy donkeys without a single issue.

Not an issue yet with my GTX465... That does suck but then again it does happen too.

Hopefully the warranty is taken care of quickly.

My 470 has been folding 24/7 since the client came out, no problems so far.

dead as in dead cold stone dead or artifacting/etc?

temps are starting to probably have a substantial impact on the longevity, got to look around and see if theres more threads poping out.

thing is, not that many were sold(vs cheaper cards) so even if 20 die, it could be the buzz.

It worked perfectly until Tuesday, I booted my PC and it immediately started artifacting like crazy in the desktop and it would crash the PC as soon as I would try I start a game. Reinstalled the drivers and tested the cards individually and it was the card I got at launch, contacted evga and they said it needed to be replaced.

did they ask you to do some testing? if not, maybe they had a bad batch and theyre starting to go? :) hate to see a fodler go the down way

martin_metal_88 June 25, 2010 02:16 PM

I saw 2 dead 480 here on the 10-12 we sell but not big issue so far. RMA will do the trick for you. Shit happen.

2 out of your 12 is a lot lol. maybe the guy pushed them(overvoltage) or maybe bad psu, low cooling potential case. what brand were they? i know the first were all reference, with a sticker on top to differentiate between the brands so...

that or the drivers were screwing with fan profiles or more
