Dead GTX480

Bvsbutthd101, if you still have trouble after doing those things, try mounting a fan behind the gpu. It dropped my temps enough that I can touch the card without fear of being burnt.

Glad 2 c things worked out for ya buddy. EVGA, the way to go. Used to b XFX, til they stopped producing Nvidia.

Different then last time,first one artifacted like crazy but this one just died.

my self went through rma 480GTX SC card worked fine till new driver was installed (258.96_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit) fan was kinda loud on old card , with replacement can hardly hear it run
issues: cmos had to be resetted to get it working after driver update
then bsod when play 3D apps, 2D was fine and windows belly echeing video adapter was not macthing hardware then RMA for locking up

i removed back mounting bracket completely to allow air flow over gpu sink

temp dropped 20c now gaming 70c max ambiant 27c . you can oder from evga the high flow bracket


Note: a fan in case is only recycling the heated air, best pull outside air in to case so the cool air can flow through gpu's

If you have a fan behind the gpus and it isn't making that much difference, bump up the cfm big time.

Look 4 a fan with low dbs, the 1 I'm using is rated 17 dbs, with a 90 cfm. Probably not what it actually is real world, but it's not heard over other fans and keeps my unit surprising cool.

After all, the gpu puts out the most heat, so everything else is affected.

nope for using destop orentation (horz) card is verticle

rob...did you add the fan (intake) to the side window of your Corsair Case? Those cases really are designed for WC not Air.......personally I added a 140 mm Intke to the side window of my TJ09 .....

I rarely agree with Rj but on this one he is damn right. If you want much air around your card the best solution is probably a KamaBay with a really high CFM fan in it and maybe a second one just behind the card to make sure the air get in the right place. With decent airflow, good fan profile, these card should be under mid 90's under heavy load and also shouldn't die.

Edit : dunno if someone already reply this since I read the thread this morning but have to tryed another psu or test the load in the 8pin PCI-e + 24pin ATX of the PSU witha multimeter while plugged in the running computer ( ask for help if you don't know how to do ). Maybe the issue is coming from here...there issurtenly a reason why your 2 480 died.
