Question

Can you actually buy those and installing them on selective notebooks?

I mean the OEM notebook business is dead as far as I know.

Mark, laptops are pretty specific in what parts they are compatible with. For instance, in order to run the card in our units we need:
Proper MXM slot
Bios update to recognize card
EC update to respond to vga temps and spin up the fans.
Enough area for the required heatsink.

And yes, it is a Fermi chip, but is slimed down from the desktop version, to stay within a proper heat and power range.
Core/mem/shader: 425/600/800

I'm trying to get my boss to send a review unit in, so hopefully HWC will have all the info you desire, soon!

It's also cut down to 352 cores, instead of 480, which obviously helps with thermal dissipation. Still a hell of a thing to cram into a laptop. Considering the potential for sterility, it makes you wonder if it qualifies for a Darwin Award.

The Fermi architecture has the shader speed locked at double the core frequency, so there's something wrong with those numbers.
