My System Specs

Default PLEASE help me decide: GPU swap

Hey guys heres a crazy question so please just humor me

Say i had the chance to swap the 5870 for a gtx480 and pay no more for it do you think thats a good move?

I have a HAF932 so theres plenty of air flow and the aircon is always running so heat and ambient temps shouldnt be a problem

Just thought i'd see what you's would do personally, $ aside, would you swap for a performance increase?

SUCH a hard decision to make

Which brand ati for which brand nvidia?

For the same price I probably would. I have found nvidia drivers to be slightly more refined in my experience. Plus I'd end up putting the card under water.

Yeah warranty all included, i think i might stick with my 5870, i do like both cards and they were the original 2 cards i was stuck on choosing the first time round

Its a hard choice, i hear that the temp and noise problems are no where near as bad as the rumors specualte according to real user reviews

Both great cards

Also be good to see how the new 10.6 catalyst drivers go in improving things

Also does anyone know in theory what card Crysis two is likely to play better on between the 5870 and 480?

Do you think Crysis 2 would favor some of the newer tech on the 480?

Also why is it that the 480 (accoroding to some benchmarks) performs slighty worse that the 5870 (at certain resolutions)

Cheers guys

no ideapossibly
the 480 is slightly faster overall

furmark on a 480, i think ati has 'anti furmark' or something

now, those are with a tad older drivers so things have changed a bit since then
