Decision Decision

Is time for me to do a small upgrade, but do not know what to choose. My budget is around 250-300.I have several options:
1) 2 x HD5770
2) 1 x HD5830
If you guys have other options speak out.

5830 is an insane $190 compared to regular $280! Gogogogoo!
NCIX.com - Buy Diamond Radeon HD 5830 825MHZ 1GB 4.2GHZ DDR5 DVI HDMI DP PCI-E DIRECTX11 Video Card - 5830PE51G In Canada.
That's almost the same as a good 5770.

5850 because 2X 5770 is ~price of 5850 while it uses less power and pci e slots

+1 for that. Also, using one card will prevent prloblem that sometime dual card setup run in. 5830 is not worth it if you can afford a 5850.

I say get the 5830 on the NCIX extreme deal of the day, it comes out being REALLY cheap.
His choices didn't include a 5850, but...if you can afford it or need it's power. Waiting on a sale would be desirable, though.

I think i will go for a HD5830. From what i read on some reviews the difference between HD5830 and HD5850 is not that big.

I would say go with the HD5850 out of any of your options and your price range

Delavan June 13, 2010 10:35 AM

HD5850 is better, but for the price, that HD5830 deal is hard to pass up.

This.

Another idea would be to get 2 5830's, because this price is really great for them, and just crossfire them. Won't be all that much more expensive than 2 5770's, but it will provide much more power. Or get one if you don't need that power. Or just wait for a 5850 to go on a little sale, I love the 5850.

martin_metal_88 June 13, 2010 11:30 AM

the problem is that the 5830 is like 5% faster then a 5770...so if OP wanted 2X 5770 he will be sad with a single 5830...so just get a 5850 and don't waste more time.
