One 5850. Definitely. Non-crossfire graphics solutions are much easier to handle in the power and heat area, and generally produce less problems. Overclock it even on the stock cooling, and you've almost got a 5870.

With new drivers, I think the performance of the GPUs increased a bit. I think it's a worthwhile purchase for $190. Heck I'm tempted too.

the 5770 performance increase to with 10.4 ( 10.5 was a bug fix so no real gain ) So the performance is still around the same.

Or you could grab a Sapphire 5770 since they're only $158 on Newegg.ca right now...

Well, I'd say they crossfire the same as any other card. The heat is a little more, they take a little power (though that shouldn't be a problem), they give more power, sometimes they're glitchy in new games before new drivers come out. S'about it.

My 8800GT died yesterday so I've got one of these on the way. Budget was tight and this was the most I could justify spending.

On a side note, baking my 8800gt in the oven for 10 minutes did not fix it, which is too bad. I've heard of lots of people having success reviving dead cards that way.
