Cool Need New Card to Buy: Nvidia or ATI

Hi All,

This question probably has been posted but not sure if updated to include the latest cards. I have around $450 to spend on a new video card. I primarly play COD (all versions) and BFBC2. I have been reading and am still confused as to which card I should be looking at Nivida (EVGA Geforce GTX 470) or ATI (Sapphire Vapor-X ATI Radeon HD 5870). Both have good and bad points however I would like the card to play any future versions of COD or BFBC.

Current system:

CPU: I7
Motherboard: Asus P6X58D Premium
Ram: 6 Gig Corsair
HD: 2xWestern Digital Black 1TB 2xSegate 700mb
Cooling: Corsair H50 CPU cooler (Push/Pull method), 6 x120 case fans
Case: Coolermaster CM Stacker 830 EVO
Power Supply: Seasonic M12 700W
Current Video Card: ATI 4890 *I want to move the current card to my sons computer.
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster P2370

*** I usually play my games at 1920x1080 resolution

Thanks for any input.

I believe ATI has the best offerings now. Go with a 5870 and you cannot go wrong.

Another vote for the 5850. Best value card, just clock it a little higher and bam, it's a 5870. 5850 runs nice and cool with the stock cooling system.

5850 for sure.

Less power hungry and a HELL of a lot less heat than the current NVIDIA offerings.

Yea, the 5850 over clocked some will be almost like a 5870, but 2 fps or so isn't worth the extra $100 or so. Also, the 5850 isn't nearly as power consuming, as stated by Digi.
