Man you said it!!! The first time I upped the fan w/Rivatuner my wife was downstairs and called up to me "What's that?!" LOL. I am putting my Zalman vf900 on my RMA ,which I get to pick up from FedEx today! Pending the RMA card is not bunked with bad memory like the current one. Anyways that Zalman was always nice and quiet on my 7900GS so I am expecting the same w/the GT :)

You should have told her you were vacuuming might have scored a few brownie points.

Yeah I agree the cooling is disappointing, but I water cool all gpu so that is not an issue for me. Weird they didnt do it similar to the GTS, cost savings I suppose.

Yeah I got that A3 revision also.... absolutely a great overclocker! And thanks for the tip on 3DMark06. It's gonna come in handy!

And ehm 3.0charlie...is that as high as you can take your GTS? Because I only managed to get 12130 with my E6600 at 3.3GHz. You see what the difference against your Q6600 at 3.6GHz?

I wonder if I can put one of those Zalman VF 9 coolers on it to see if it's get better performance compared to regular air!

Both cards were very quickly oc'ed. I still have both, I will eventually start the oc process again.

I don't think the vf900 will fit on a GTS without some fancy modding. They fit on the 5***, 6***, 7*** and the GT.

Here are my 3dmark scores:

GT
Futuremark - ORB - Project Comparison
GTS
Futuremark - ORB - Project Details

BTW, before I run 3dmark06 I go in to the nvidia control panel and turn the image quality setting down to High performance, gets you an easy 500-800 points.
Thanks for the tip, I didn't know you could push the shader clock that much. New oc and 3Dmark06 result. Max 49C on core while benching.

Actually, I have the Fatal1ty FC-ZV9( which is really a VF900) installed on a 8600 GT! Maybe just Maybe??? We'll give it a shot soon!

WOW 3.0charlie, that is an insane OC...almost 2GHz on the shaders! Good job! Has anyone tried to OC with the new 169.09 drivers???

Those benches and overclocks were all done with the 169.09 drivers Duc, I should have said, sorry. I have never had a single issue with nvidia beta drivers and that's all I've ran for the last 10 years or so. riva TNT!

But I hate the single slot cooling on it. Even at 70% the fan is too loud. Had to max it to hit 720 core and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner, playing Crysis was no fun, the fan drowns out all but your gunshots. There goes the immersion factor. On water my rig is near silent and the jungle sounds, footsteps and rustling leaves are sweet.

Who wants a GT? I live in Vernon, BC. Best way to do this would be to meet me at Future shop, I'll return it and you can snag it open box for $269 less 10%, full warranty.
Welcome to the forums!

You got PM
