Is it just me or 10.5 drivers boosted 5870 like hell?

I updated my drivers to 10.5 and noticed huge increase in fps for my 5870. I fired up bad company 2 and went from 71fps @ 1680x1050 to 80-100 fps. Most of the time it stays around 90s. I also saw rise in fps in a few other games. Anyone else noticed anything? I am running phenom II 940 3.6ghz with sapphire 5870@900mhz

Too statistical... fps doesn't tell the full story, especially with ati. Go blow up something and watch that 90 drop to a 50. That's what happens with ati cards, you get a ton of frames when walking around and it drops like crazy when you need it the most. Not to mention stuttering and bugs with the 5870's such as flickering when changing memory speed...

NVIDIA's official driver optimization's policy is to never introduce a performance optimization via .exe detection that alters the application's image quality, however subtle the difference. This is also the policy of FutureMark regarding legitimate driver optimizations.

Interesting. I wonder if reviewers usually turn off the app optimizations that affect image quality?

Being new to the Red tide.... I see the issues with nvidia.

With the 480GTX that was suppose to wipe ATI Ass off the gpu market again, Failed, Now saying Red Is cheating. Keep up the good work ATI, Im glad i switched.

Nah no smokes. If I get hungry while playing Metro 2033 on my 470 SLi rig I have been know to pop a bag of popcorn in my case.

To the OP:

I didn't notice a huge jump going from 10.4 to 10.5 The only diff. I noticed was decreased loading times in BFBC2. Also, a little 500 3Dmarks06...nothing to write home about.

Maybe your previous driver install was crappy or driver settings were set different.
