This is interesting that the gain is so minor using crossfire. Hopefully it gets better with drivers.. Seems to be a pretty good bang for the buck for a single tho, ~$180.

You sure? It's been saying "In stock" since the beginning, but they also have the "expect 1-3 weeks" warning on the same page.

Not that impressed with how NCIX has been handling this and the 8800GT launch tbh. I cancelled my 8800GT order last night, I decided I'm not in that much of a hurry to upgrade. Hopefully I won't regret letting go of that $259 price for the eVGA. :)

But since my current motherboard (A8R-MVP) supports crossfire, and my next board is most likely going to have an intel chipset, it seemed like the HD3870 might be a better choice in the long run, even if the 8800GT might be the better single card for now.

Yeah dont let them trick you. They get like 3 cards so they can put "in stock" and people order like crazy thinking they will get it. Then you wait 2-3 weeks. They use the ohh the system takes a while to update if you call and complain.

What's the noise difference between the DuOrb and the stock cooler? I know the DuOrb is 39 decibels, but I can't find anything about the stock cooler.

You won't hear much difference if you have a clsed case but if you use a case with a perforated side "window" (like my Gigabyte Aurora 570) there is a distinct difference in the noise production. The DuOrb is not silent....the stock heatsink is.

Lost Planet and STALKER are now playable on this rig with one card
I'm not getting uber fps but the games are alot smoother

Think I'll try one in the Quad machine since Crossfire makes no difference right now
